I love my job...

So today I wanted to share with you a little prank we decided to pull on my counterpart at our East Austin facility. First of all let me give a little back story...

Last week the City of Austin Stormwater Compliance department came out on a surprise inspection. They had some issues with some of our stormwater ponds at our east austin plant and wrote us up for it. We had to beg and plead for them not to write an official notice of violation and we would be sure to fix everything etc etc.

On a side note, I saw what we were written up for and I think it's just stupid. They are nitpicking and I have seen FAR FAR FAR worse (right behind my backyard for one, which is owned by the city...lol)

Anyway a coworker and I decided we would do a little decorating of my counterpart's cubicle while he's on vacation. When he gets back on monday he's in for a surprise. What you see in the pictures below are City of Austin Stormwater Pond Maintenance pamplets, some of them have even been blown up and printed on VERY large paper too. Hope you get a good laugh, I sure had fun decorating. Can't wait to see his face when he gets back.

Arms and Armadillos

So I decided to write about two completely random and unrelated things tonight.

The first: Arms

So I have decided to start working out again. It's been nearly 4 months since I last did anything remotely physical. I started last wednesday since I get a free membership at the gym at work and I no longer have the luxury of a gym where I live. Not only is the membership free, but I also get free classes like Yoga, Palates, etc, AND every time I work out I get 5 points which at the end of the year can be traded in for gift cards to places like Academy. I've been working out for about 45 minutes every weekday doing cardio on the elliptical, then weights and rowing. I'm pretty excited about getting back into shape. The personal trainer I have (which is also free..hehe) measured me and said I have 11.1% body fat. Working with him I have some goals to be near 5-6% body fat and gain a few pounds of muscle.

Finally: Armadillos

So I was at work this morning and I saw an armadillo in the court yard. It was much cuter than I ever though armadillos were, and honestly, I haven't really seen on that wasn't dead :(

Anyway I took some pictures for you (below). It was kinda funny actually because not longer after I ran up to take pictures several other by-passers saw as well and I suddenly felt like I was in a zoo...

without further adieu

Drinking always has a down side

So I guess I should start off with an apology. That last blog (now deleted) was a drunken rant and after reading it I realized how crazy it sounded. That being said it's nice to know I have so many people who care about me, because it didn't take more than a few hours before I was getting support and at the time I didn't realize why but after reading that thing I can understand. Thanks guys and sorry for turning what I had hoped and wanted to be a more mature emotional outlet into a drunken rant.

This weekend wasn't very good as you might have realized but I can safely say I'd much rather talk about it sober than drunk. I have had some incite about this city but it's not so bitter as it was in my last post, more an observation that I think explains it much better.

I guess I have just come to realize the selfish tendency people have but on the bright side I think it's re-affirming in my mind who my true best friends are. I really do try and be selfless but I am just as bad as the next person. I must admit I've been very selfish over the past 8 months (if not more). I don't know when the trend actually stated but I really want to break it. What's sad is I see it in so many people. I don't want to give a whole lot of back story on where this is all coming from because I don't think it's warranted. Just know I feel pretty betrayed by a close friend today. I let myself get so worked up about something and when suddenly my plans are shot down and I'm not longer welcome, he ends up going anyway and I'm suddenly just left alone feeling like completely left out for no rhyme or reason. I do want to thank those of you that do take time out of your lives to care about other people though, you are truly a breath of fresh air and I love you...

I am really trying to stay optimisitic because I know if I can pull myself out of this selfish phase I've been in since my last break-up then I can one-up most of the people in this community and maybe then the golden rule will take over and I can finally feel as though I'm treated as well as I think I should be. At the very least I'll feel better about myself than I have in quite some time.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to read this. I hope to post some more optimistic robisms in the future. Stay tuned.
